#THE AMAZING SPIDER MAN 1 FULL MOVIE ONLINE IN ENGLISH MOVIE#
In 1985, amid lagging studio interest in superhero movies (at the time the only major franchise was Superman, and his series was lagging), cult film powerhouse Cannon Films acquired the movie rights to the character from Marvel for $250,000.Īfter several script attempts, Cannon folded, and producer Menahem Golan moved the rights to his successor company, 21 st Century Films. It took 17 years to get Spider-Man made.īefore superhero mania took over Hollywood, it was a 17-year journey just to get the character onto the big screen the first time. The original film, which saw Tobey Maguire in the title role, was a massive cinematic endeavor that required 17 years, multiple screenplays, a costume theft, and a very convincing CGI performance to complete. Today it seems like we’ll never stop seeing Spider-Man at the movies, but back in 2002-when Sam Raimi's Spider-Man was released-it seemed amazing that we ever saw him there in the first place. And it helps differentiate The Amazing Spider-Man from previous movies that Gwen Stacy ( Emma Stone), not Mary Jane Watson, is Peter/Spidey's love interest here.Later this year, Tom Holland will don his spidey suit for the sixth time when Spider-Man: No Way Home arrives in theaters. He's antsy and curious and very charming. Garfield brings a different but equally fantastic energy to the role his Peter has a skater-on-the-fringes angst that's not emo and not super-boyish (like Maguire) but still perfect for a teenage superhero. So is there any reason to love this new outing, which treads over much of the same backstory as previous films did? Well, yes. Sure, the third film of the last set, which featured the wonderful Tobey Maguire in the titular role, was a bit disappointing, but overall the series was a crowd-pleaser in many ways. Let's be honest, though: The Spider-Man franchise didn't really need a reboot. This Spidey wants to show off, as a teen encountering new powers would, and he deserved a proper fight. One gripe worth airing is about Spider-Man's nemesis: The Lizard seems scary enough, but not so scary as to be a worthy opponent. He lingers on the teen romance, which is delightful, and serves up thrilling action sequences without the show-off-y quality that too many superhero movies rely on. Would a superhero really break his promise?ĭirector Marc Webb brings a realism to the proceedings that's hard not to like in this superhero reboot. It was incongruous to find this in such a black-and-white movie. I understand that he said this to let Gwen know that he is going to stay in her life however, if he's going to break the promise to her dying father there should have been some screen time devoted to how he thought that through or arrived at that conclusion. I was also tremendously bothered about the last line: the best promises are the ones you don't keep. I think all of us should show respect to the hard-working police officers that keep our communities safe, and I don't appreciate them being portrayed as buffoons. There are a couple of things that I will bring up with them in the days to come, though: I was bothered that Peter dissed the police officer when he was caught webbing up a car thief. There wasn't much that my children wanted to talk about afterwards. Being thrifty, though, I didn't get enough out of it to merit the money. My children (15, 14, 12) LOVED the movie. I found the movie cheesy at times, but of course Martin Sheen and Sally Fields brought their skills to the screen in a way that made the movie interesting for me.
